Traditional Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients for the chicken

  • 1 onion( diced)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 potato (cubed)
  • 3 carrots (Sliced)
  • 1 L chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 cups green peas
  • 8 boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into small pieces

Ingredients for Dumplings:

  • 6 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions to cook chicken

  • Take a large saucepan and add vegetables and mushrooms to the saucepan
  • In a bowl mix chicken broth and flour well until you have a smooth mix.
  • Pour the flour broth mix over the vegetables and add spices
  • Add chicken pieces and cook over a low flame for 8 hours.

Directions to cook dumplings

  • In a mixing bowl add all ingredients for dumplings and mix well.
  • Take a tablespoon and scoop out one tablespoon at a time and drop the dumplings into the bubbling stew.
  • Add peas and cook for 25 min
